My boss likes lists. A LOT. I think I wrote something like five lists in last week's print editions alone. So it came as no surprise Saturday night when he told me he wanted to see my early Indianapolis 500 picks ... in list form.

Well here they are (subject to change of course).
1. Scott Dixon. Simply put, no one has turned better laps than the polesitter during preparations for the May 25 event.
2. Dan Wheldon. Starting second, how long will the Englishman wait before trying to take the lead from Ganassi teammate Scott Dixon?
3. Tony Kanaan. No Sam Hornish Jr. No Dario Franchitti. It might just be the No. 11's turn.
4. Marco Andretti. He's been out front at Indy before. Now the question is, will he be there after Lap 200?
5. Helio Castroneves. Two-time race winner always is a threat at IMS.
I can't tell you how many times I went back and forth between Dixon and Wheldon as my early top pick. Then I thought about how good Kanaan and the other AGR cars have been at Indianapolis.
And don't for a second think Roger Penske is going to roll over for anyone. Can you imagine if he won the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 in the same season?
I have a feeling we're going to see an outstanding race on May 25. Now if we can just keep the rain away ...
Until next time, keep hittin' your marks!
