The All-Star of All-Stars

Monday's News-Gazette featured an interesting idea that I'm sure most every racing fan has and will continue to debate for generations.Who would win the ultimate NASCAR All-Star race? The field contained the sport's heavyweights from throughout history, with Richard Petty on the pole and Dale Earnhardt Sr. on the outside of the front row.
There were so many great names in the bunch, including Cale, the Allisons, Gordon, Fireball, Rusty. Let's just say the field was stacked.
But it took me about 1 second to decide who would win that race. It would be Dale Earnhardt. There has never been a better driver than The Intimidator. They always said he could "see the air." The guy knew what the car was going to do before the car did. He did some of the most amazing things in a racecar I have ever seen and there's no doubt in my mind he would win the ultimate NASCAR race (barring mechanical failure of course).
Probably the most impressive things I've seen Earnhardt do revolve around saving the car. You'd see his car sideways and he'd bring it back in. Earnhardt made saves like no one else.
He also was one of the most talented passers to ever drive a racecar. Earnhardt could follow you for one lap and know exactly where on the track you were struggling. Like a shark to blood he would attack and the next thing you know, he's driving away.
Sure wish Dale Sr. was still around today.

That's great, but let's get to the important question: Who would win a Royal Rumble between all of the greatest drivers in history?
Four words: Bob "Spark Plug" Holly!

Yeah it is amazing how Jason Randall doesn't get much space, but that reluctant townie crap gets a quarter front page.
