The News-Gazette’s Jason Randall hopes to see a victory in person today at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He enters the race 3-16:
“I covered Jimmie Johnson ’s win in 2006, and the way he’s running this weekend reminds me a great deal of that race. The 48 Chevrolet has been absolutely dominant since it rolled off the hauler, and Johnson will cap the trip to IMS with a victory.
“Jeff Gordon also will be a guy to watch, and I think Kasey Kahne could have a say, but to count out crew chief Chad Knaus and the Lowe’s team after a stellar qualifying run and strong practice sessions would be foolish.
“Expect Johnson to collect Brickyard win No. 2 today and further solidify his place as a very real contender for a third consecutive Sprint Cup championship.”
