Waiting for the Chase

Tonight's race at Richmond has been postponed because of severe weather, and NASCAR has moved the event to noon Sunday. That means we'll have to wait even longer to find out who will be in the top 12 in the Sprint Cup points standings with 10 races to go.
Who knows, though? I don't think the storm will magically disappear on Sunday afternoon, so we could see the race moved even deeper into the week, which certainly will put teams into scramble mode entering next weekend's race, the first race of the Chase.
But the two guys who are sitting in the final two spots - Denny Hamlin and Clint Bowyer - won't be complaining. They're good at Richmond ... darn good. Bowyer won the spring race at RIR and Hamlin always has been good there. I think the guys in the top 12 right now are the guys who will be in this season's Chase.
It's a shame for David Ragan, the unsung Roush driver who has had a wonderful season and sits in 13th place. I just think the guys ahead of him have had too much success at RIR for Ragan to overcome.
But I guess that's why they race. We'll see Sunday ... or Monday ... or Tuesday ...
When we do know who has made the Chase, I'll offer my breakdown of each of the 12 drivers who have qualified, so check back after the Chevy Rock and Roll 400.
In the meantime, let's send sunshine vibes to Virginia, along with safety vibes to all of those people who live in the path of these dangerous storms.
Until next time, keep hittin' your marks!
