Celebrating eradications

The good news: Illinois is no longer home to the Asian Longhorned Beetle, the Chicago Tribune reports. The Chinese beetle killed 1,500 trees in northeastern Illinois before officials could get rid of it.

But the juiciest tidbit comes later in the story: "Standing at Cullom and Winchester Avenues in Chicago, less than a block from where the first infestation was found, a state official read a proclamation signed by Gov. Rod Blagojevich declaring Thursday to be Asian Longhorned Beetle Eradication Day."

It makes me wonder, what other days will be named after things eradicated in Illinois?

Political Squabbles in the Statehouse Eradication Day?

Not-Enough-Money-In-State-Coffers Eradication Day?

What about Governmental Corruption Eradication Day?

Any suggestions?
