Rain, rain go away

I heard a guy on Chicago radio say this morning that the sun would appear Sunday so "don't be scared."
Indeed, in Champaign-Urbana so far this month, it has rained 13 of 16 days. It has rained nine of the last 10 days.
We have had 4.71 inches of rain -- just halfway through October -- in a month that averages 1.89 inches of rainfall. Nortmally this is one of the driest months of the year.
The highest temperature has been 67 degrees. The average high for today is 64 degrees.
The good news is that because of the law of averages someday soon there should be a string of days when it is 20 degrees above normal. But that is no cheer to all the area farmers who need and want to get into their fields to begin harvest.
