U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson, R-Urbana, filed this morning to run for a sixth term in Congress.
If no one else — Republican or Democrat — files today (the deadline is 4:30), there will be no 15th Congressional District primary in February, just a November 2010 rematch of the 2004 and 2006 elections when Johnson went up against Dr. David Gill. Johnson won both races, in a solidly Republican district, by more than 58 percent.
Incidentally, the 2010 general election is one year from today.
