Living on the edge

On Sunday, The News-Gazette and the University of Illinois Department of Journalism begin a project designed to engage citizens, educators and other media in an ongoing examination of poverty and related issues in Champaign County.
The project will have a lot of different components besides traditional newspaper stories to it over time, including an interactive Web site. A major goal of the project is to provide access to information about the community to those citizens who seldom get that access. The project is funded by the Marajen Stevick Foundation, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and contributions from the University of Illinois.
Also in Sunday's paper in the Living section, Melissa Merli visits Prairie Fruits Farm and Creamery. The first artisan-cheese farmstead in Illinois has attracted a national following for its French-style goat- and sheep-milk cheeses and features farm dinners that are nearly always sold out.
In Sports, Jeff Huth takes a look at Twitter in college athletics. For now, the newness of the technology has schools and their coaches treading carefully, but it's become an accepted way of communicating with recruits.
These are just a few of the things we've got coming in Sunday's paper. Hope you enjoy.
