WEIU back in the TV listings

Several weeks go, we removed the listings for television station WEIU in Charleston from our daily and weekly TV grids because cable provider Comcast took the station off of its basic and classic tiers of service in Champaign-Urbana and Danville.

As a rule, we do not carry listings for channels available for digital customers for Comcast and Mediacom since they have extensive online programming guides available.

We received a number of calls from readers asking us to resume carrying WEIU listings. Many people in the area can receive the channel by broadcast, and others simply liked the convenience of having the listings in the grids. In response, we asked our listings provider to once again include WEIU in our daily and weekly grids. The weekly magazine lists WEIU as of this week's edition, and our daily grids will include the channel late this week or early next.

We've also updated some channel numbers for both Comcast customers in Champaign-Urbana and Danville and Mediacom customers in Rantoul. We've removed listings for G4, American Life TV and National Geographic to make space. Those channels are carried only on digital tiers.

Last, we will increase the size of the daily grids and the time they cover, and we'll be dropping the Best Bets column that appears next to the grids. Readers have told us they find it of limited usefulness.
