Illini continue to protect the home court

What I like about this team is you never know who is going to step up, and when. In a first half filled with a number of uncharacteristic mistakes, it was Demetri McCamey with his 15 points that helped the Illini stay afloat. In the second half, it was Mike Tisdale getting inside and causing a ton of problems for the Michigan defense.
I am still waiting for the day when McCamey puts together two good halves, but in the meantime I will take one of his double-digit halves in each game. As for Tisdale, I just love the amount of confidence he is playing with. He is playing much stronger and it is showing. Plus, his baby hook is awesome.
Illinois is doing an excellent job of protecting their home court, but now it is time to hit the road. If Illinois wants to win a Big Ten title, they got to get some more road wins. Purdue was very nice, and it probably gave us a leg up on all the teams that have to play there. Michigan State would be the same way. There aren’t many teams who are going to win there, and Illinois with wins against Purdue and Michigan St. on the road will have what can be looked at as a two game lead on everyone else. Let’s keep it up!!

Tom, I may be getting ahead of myself but this team reminds me a little of the 2005 runner up team. Any given night you had someone else stepping up. They picked each other up. Trent had a poor scoring game last night but mccamey stepped up and so did tisdale. What more can you say about calvin Brocks performance, other then he looks like a senior at this point. he comes in and gives us a great energy level. It will be an outstanding season. I like our chances saturday. MSU struggled with PSU zone defense, i know bruce has been working on a zone defence. It will be exciting.
