No. 5: Ohio State
Why I like the Buckeyes: A summer of working with his teammates should have Terrelle Pryor's passing efficiency at a high level. And he was already very good, with a 12:4 touchdown to interception ratio last season. Pryor is a talented runner, but the Ohio State coaches won't want him running as much as he did in 2008. Three starters are back on the offensive line. The defense has seven returning starters, including three of four linemen. The Buckeyes don't leave Ohio until October.
Why I don't: Two of the September games will be tests, against Southern Cal and Illinois. The top two receivers are gone. So is tailback Chris Wells. It means extra pressure on Pryor, who was named Big Ten preseason offensive player of the year. The defense lost its top two tacklers. The kicker and punter will be new. Besides the game against Southern Cal, the Buckeyes visit Penn State.
