I've got a little more than a week until my next AP Top 25 is due. And I've got a headache thinking about it.
Too many good teams to consider. Too many matchups (four) involving Top 25 teams. There will be a shakeup. There has to be. Maybe that's why the AP gives us an extra day for the first ballot. More likely, it's because the games are spread to Labor Day.
The folks on the AP panel are a lot like you. They follow the sport. They are fans of the sport. Unlike you, they don't get to watch a Saturday full of games. Because they are all working on one game.
The good news for more of us (sorry, Chadd Cripe of the Idaho Statesmen), there are games starting Thursday. The best is the one in Boise involving the hometown Broncos and Oregon. But there are other games worth watching the first day, including South Carolina-North Carolina State and Eastern Kentucky-Indiana.
I'll be watching as many as possible, jotting down results and looking for that sleeper team that deserves Top 25 consideration.
