Boy, the elimination show was a little bit of a shocker with Adam landing in the bottom two along with Matt this week. Ryan did put Adam in a tough

spot by asking him which group of two he thought he belonged in, and
naturally and graciously he aligned himself next to Danny and Alison. He
did pick the top two, but when Ryan moved him to the other group and
mentioned he was in the bottom three, I think there was a gasp not only
from the crowd and judges, but also from Alison and Danny! The way they
looked at each other was pure shock!
While I did think Adam's theatrical version of "Feeling Good" was one of
the highlights of the week, he has to be careful not to be too screechy.
The screaming is a bit much at times. Adam, who looked shocked himself
at landing in the bottom two, now may have to worry that his sound may not
be mass appeal enough for the general audience. I wouldn't say he is
cocky, but he is confident, and maybe this week will make him a little
more humble. That is an appealing quality that Kris has for sure.
It was a tough week because I thought all five did an incredible job. If
no one went home this week, I would have been okay with that. But that is
not how it works. It was funny that after Danny sang "Come Rain or Come
Shine," I thought that was a genre in which Danny would do very well.
While it is cliche now for contemporary artists to record standards
albums, I think Danny could pull it off.
Each week the judges want to see the contestants have a modern sound, yet
themes like "Rat Pack Week" and "Disco Week" do not always allow that to
happen very easily. Perhaps next week with a rock theme might see them
show what they might record in the future. Right now, I'm not entirely
sure what type of album any of these kids might record except for Kris.
This is the first week that I felt that maybe Adam is not a sure thing to
win. The drama of this week's elimination should up everyone's game, and
the pressure is on! I still predict Adam and Danny in the finals, but the
next few weeks should be very interesting!
