Wow! Even though I have been saying I would be happy with any of the remaining three to make the finals, I have to say I was still shocked last

night when Danny Gokey did not make it to the finals!
How dramatic was it when Ryan Seacrest lined up the three guys and then
said the first one going to the finals was....."Kris!" The judges were
even shocked! And no one seemed more surprised than Kris himself.
The shock should take nothing away from Kris, as he was certainly one of
the most creative and surprisingly versatile contestants ever on the show.
He is hte only one of three that I would almost guarantee I would buy his
album.
But I have to say I was still surprised that he made it to the finals.
Then the question was who would join him? Would Danny, long thought to be
a finalist and who has a heart-tugging back story, make it? Or would the
over-confidence of the judges and fans that Adam would definitely make it
and even win actually hurt him? Simon and Paula have been very vocal
about their prediction that he would win. The general public seems to say
the same thing. Plus a recent cover of "Entertainment Weekly" added to
the presumption that he would win.
Some thought that 'certainty' might cause a backlash as people may not
vote for him because they all thought it may not be necessary...he would
win any way.
As it turned out in the most exciting "Idol" in the show's history, Danny
was sent home and Adam advanced to the finals. You could tell it was
tense among them, as they all embraced and seemed to sincerely support
each other.
Now the question is who will win next week? Will Adam win as expected?
Or will Kris, with his more middle-of-the-road style be more accessible to
the masses and therefore get more votes? Will the suspiscion of Adam's
personal life effect the outcome? Will the fact that Kris, ignoring
advice, never hid the fact that he is married hurt his chances with the
screaming female fans? Who know!
All I know is that this year has been the best "Idol" of the eight
seasons, and the dramatic final weeks really does make it fun to watch.
Next Wednesday's finale should be one of the most exciting ever, and trust
me, "Idol" producers will not miss their opportunity to milk it for all it
is worth!
