Loane on the Loose

Illini Basketball

Call them overachievers if you will.  The Fighting Illini basketball team will face Big Ten leading MSU as one of the suprise teams in the confrence thus far.  Did not expect 15-2 at this point.  How can this team not be ranked after the Michigan win.  Will they remain on the outside looking in early next week if they cannot beat the 7th ranked Spartans in Breslin?

Well of course, I predicted that center Mike Tisdale would lead the team in scoring in confrence play (12.8ppg) by mid January.  Of course I knew a kid from Centennial would be averaging 12.2 points on the season.  Sure, I knew this team would win in Mackey arena, and blow out Indiana by 31.  And if you reference one of my earlier posts on this site, note my prediction that the Illini would have 73 assists against 34 turnovers in the Big Ten, and a 330 to 218 ratio as of January 14...What?...I'm told that one was deleted.

Biff and Muffy were crying in their Zima's after last nights Purdue victory.

As for womens basketball, my friend Tony Bleill nails it in his latest blog.  One step forward, two steps back.  Hope that frustration doesn't  become a factor for Jenna Smith.  As predicted, she's a superstar.
