Thursday Is Cat Day

Thursday night both the Illini mens and womens basketball teams will play Northwestern.  Bruce Weber's squad will take on the Wildcats in Evanston at 8 P.M.

Gone are the days when you could figure a trip to Welsh Ryan arena was an automatic win. The Illini men need a win to keep pace with Michigan State in the Big Ten title race.  Illinois is 1-4 on the road in confrence play, and on the last two thursday nights have struggled in losses to Minnesota and Wisconsin, but bounced back nicely.

The Illini women are looking for their second straight win in a season where winning streaks have been hard to come by.  The only way Jolette Law's team will see post season is to win the confrence tournament.  Something they almost did last year, making it to the championship game in Indianapolis.

They host the Cats tomorrow night at the Assembly Hall at 7 P.m.  The Illini beat NU in Big Ten womens play earlier this season in Evanston.  An Illinois victory thursday could be the type of character builder that the depleted squad uses to poise for another run at Conseco.

The womens game will air live on WDWS AM 1400 starting at 6:50.

The mens game will air live on WHMS (literock 97.5) FM starting at 6:30.

AM 1400 will join the mens game immediately following the conclusion of the womens game.

Biff and Muffy are nervous.
