College baseball fans take notice. The Fighting Illini took 2 out of 3 games from #1 ranked LSU in Baton Rouge over the weekend.
Illinois got great starts from Phil Haig and Ben Reeser. Catcher Aaron Johnson hit .500 on the weekend, and hit a game winning two run homer in the ninth on Friday. The Tigers had 30 stolen bases in nine games coming into the weekend. LSU was limited to 2 steals in this series. Illini shortstop Brandon Wikoff also hit .500 for the series. Illinois improved to 7-2 on the season, and may get a look from the national pollsters.

The Illinois will play their home opener friday afternoon against Akron. Its the first of a four game weekend set.
