Wienke commits to Iowa

Tuscola quarterback John Wienke on Saturday said he has changed his mind and will play his college football for Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Wienke, who made a verbal commitment to Michigan in July, said the coaching situation at Michigan was the main reason he decided to make the switch. Lloyd Carr retired shortly after the Wolverines' regular-season finale against Ohio State, and despite a names of a number of possible replacements for Carr have been thrown around, no one has accepted the position yet.
