The Fighting Illini wrestling program announced today that assistant coach Carl Perry has been promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach. The University of Illinois alumnus begins his eighth season on the U of I staff. Perry won the 2000 NCAA Championship for the Illini at 141 pounds, and was a two-time All-American.
Perry interviewed for the head coaching job at Illinois last spring after the retirement of Mark Johnson. That job ultimately went to Jim Heffernan. Perry also interviewed for the head coaching job at Tennessee-Chattanooga this summer.

Any word on what Jimmy Kennedy is going to do? Is he actually going to redshirt this year?

Jshaw, that's the plan as of right now. I think the only thing that could change that is injuries.
