Humming Kum Ba Yah

This year Earth Day hit rock bottom. I'm old enough to realize that lots of people planting trees and using canvas grocery bags and holding hands and singing Kum Ba Yah one day a year is not going to make a huge difference. But this year was the worst.

A large, successful lawn toxin company, besides having an affinity for making up words, endeavored to wish me a happy Earth Day by leaving a note on my door Saturday. (Unsurprisingly, Earth Day does not seem familiar to them.) It seems that for only $39 per treatment (limited-time offer) they will re-create Love Canal in my yard. Talk about bargains!

Thanks, but no. I had front row seats for the original Love Canal. Been there. Done that.

However, while I was out, "Dave" went ahead and performed an (unwanted) mini lawn analysis on my yard. Among the problems Dave identified was the color of the grass on my lawn - "green." That's what box he checked - "green." The text explained that this is one of the areas they could improve upon this season.

Apparently the pinkish-orange glowy color that it will be after marinating in pesticides would be a huge step up for my yard. Happy Earth Day to you guys, too.
