Those white people?

As a stress reduction strategy, I 've been trying not to comment on Unit 4 schools (you know, "accept the things you cannot change.") But I can't let this priceless quote from Judge McDade go to waste:"You have the talent to make those white people opting out want to opt in," he said. "This ought to encourage you people to put educational programs here in this district to make all those people running away beg you to let them come back."
1. Guesstimate the magnitude of the uproar if anyone referred to "the plaintiffs" as "those black people."
2. Someone seems to have lost track of the fact that we are talking about public schools here. People don't have to beg to be let back in the public schools because they are, uh, public. People are leaving because, while they are being forced to sacrifice their tax dollars, they don't care to also sacrifice their children to the disaster that the consent decree has left in its wake.
3. If they put the world's most incredible educational programs in place, "those white kids", not to mention "those Asian kids," those Latino kids," and "those Native American kids" wouldn't have fair access to them anyway because none of them matter in consent decree land.
