I hope everyone has recovered from the thrill of the High School Musical 2 premiere this weekend. Sometimes that much excitement isn't good for you.

In addition to watching it with my daughter, I had to force a friend who has cable to watch it too, because we were in her living room. It's not like I didn't give her the option of hanging out in her laundry room to get away from it.

It was to be an event featuring our favorite local pizza, because the living room in question is in their delivery area and ours isn't, but after 2 1/2 hours, the pizza never arrived and the manager hung up on us when we called to ask about it. I am now taking nominations for a new favorite local pizza place.

It turns out that the movie broke ratings records. It also got good reviews, with some reviewers claiming it was better than the first one (which I have also seen a number of times.)

Maybe it will grow on me once we have the DVD (and trust me, we will have the DVD), but I liked the first one better. This one seemed forced (well, more forced) and cheesy (well, cheesier) than the first one and the music wasn't as catchy.

But as a mom, I LIKE the nauseating wholesomeness of it all. My almost-eight-year-old can feel cool and trendy and watch something wildly popular without being exposed to a lot of things I don't want her to see. And that, as Sharpay sings, is "fabulous."
