Entertaining savage beasts when fresh catnip is not in season

True confession: my cats do not have their own CD collection, and before reading about how they might enjoy the healing power of music , I had never really thought much about it.

I love music; it makes sense that they would, too. Harp music isn't my favorite, but I would be willing to have the CD mentioned in the article on my shelf because it is called, "Harp Music to Soothe the Savage Beast."
The cats might enjoy knowing I bought something just for them with the term "savage beast" in the title. I can just see them strutting around, thinking of themselves as savage beasts.
Some people I know leave the radio on for their pets while they are gone, but I can see why a specialty CD would be preferable.
Recently my daughter and I were dog-sitting and arrived to find the poor creature listening to the Iowa caucus results. Obviously, "While you are gone: Music dogs Love" or "Dog Gone Classical Music: Mozart" wouldn't have caused the dog to nearly lapse into a boredom-induced coma. She probably would have been tapping her toes and reading The New Yorker when we got there.
There are 68 Amazon results for "music for pets." I thought my cats might be interested in, "While you are gone: Music Cats Love" featuring "over one hour of relaxing music mixed with soft nature sounds and short stories." Um, short stories?
Lately our cats have been waking up in the morning to the joyous strains of the High School Musical 2 soundtrack. They seem to be doing fine with it; it certainly hasn't affected their appetites at all and they seem just as relaxed as ever. Plus, their rhythm
has improved and they are learning the true meaning of friendship. But I think they'd rather be savage beasts.

Try out the DVD's for cats -- now THOSE are entertaining! The cats I saw really loved them, and it was cheap entertainment for the humans watching them...
Next up, cats on 'nip watching cat DVD's.
Things to do on a Friday night since your kids/pets have eaten up all your money...
