This weekend, the 4th (Independance Day!) and 5th, the VFW on Main Street in Urbana will have the WW-II Re-enacters on display and they (the VFW Post) will be serving breakfast (Saturday) for the re-enacters and afterwards for the public. It is usually a very good feed, and the proceeds go to SUPPORT our troops and the local veterans, It's ONLY $5.00 per person, put on by the volunteers at the Post. Go, spend a MEASILY $5.00 and have a good breakfast (between 8:00am and 11:00am Saturday), and there will be MANY veterans and family members of military veteans and service people that YOU will have an opportunity to THANK for their service. IF YOU are so inclined!! Just a SMALL way you can help SUPPORT our brave military, BUT YOU, would probably think east Urbana is "under assualt", seeing all the military display on east Main Street.

It is a common misconception perpetuated by warmongers that those opposed to do not support the troops and do not care for them. In this they are gravely mistaken.

We care greatly for them as they are our friends, family and loved ones over there who regardless of whether they agree with GWB, have agreed to serve their country regardless of their civilian beliefs. I respect them greatly as this is something I could never do.

We care for them more than the warmongers because we are willing to admit that the best way to support the welfare and well being of the troops is to vote for the candidate that will bring them home from the sandbox ASAP, preventing more PTSD and physical casualties. Just because someone doesn't wave a flag in public by eating a $5 meal doesn't mean he isn't mowing the lawn for his neighbor and helping out with his kiddos while he's away serving his country. The fact is we could have had several more 9/11's and it would not equal the amount of damage done to our country by going to war in Iraq, in terms of human lives (both our soldiers and Iraqi civilians), fiscal (our 'conservative' leadership has wrecked our economy) and political good will (yup, it's official -- the world hates US). Like the hydra, we have created more terrorists, not reduced the likelihood of attack.

Ironically rapid extraction is also the fastest way to correct our economy, as it is our biggest budget item (whoops! it doesn't appear on the budget -- how'd that happen???)

I really must learn to stop feeding the trolls... but... it... is... so hard.
