Cruising on a Friday afternoon

After a day of technical difficulties on Thursday, today I had the day off and bicycled for fun instead.

I cycled up First Street this evening on the way to dinner and saw people setting up a bandshell in the University of Illinois Research Park. Then, on the way home, my husband and parked our bikes on the grass and listened to some great zydeco music and ran into friends we hadn't seen in months. It was a fantastic night, and I doubt I would have noticed the music if I'd been zooming by in a car.

Note: I did use my car this morning and took my dog to the vet. It was the second time I've driven the car this week (the first was to pick up my bicycle from work after Tuesday's downpour), and I felt a little smug at how much gas was in the tank.

Mileage: 8.5 miles

Tomorrow I'm cycling to Willard Airport. Should be interesting.
