Illinois junior guard Lori Bjork informed Illinois coaches this morning that she is leaving the UI program.Bjork, a third-team All-Big Ten selection, leaves the Illini as the school's all-time leader in three-point shooting.
"I was surprised, but really not surprised," UI coach Jolette Law said this afternoon. "I've got to be totally honest. She resisted me the whole year. Because I wasn't Marsha Frese. When she finally decided to buy in, she started playing better."
After struggling early in the season as she adjusted to new duties in Law's system, Bjork got hot and finished with a 10.0 average, fourth on the team.
"At the end, she started buying in, and that's when she started playing better," Law said. "I wish Lori the best. It's unfortunate. She could have ended her career here on a very positive note. She could have gotten out everything that she wanted. Sometimes change is difficult for people to handle."
While Bjork departs, Illinois is adding a point guard in Eboni Mitchell, who made an oral commitment to play for Law's team next season. Mitchell, a 5-foot-7 point guard from Decatur, Ga., joins redshirting freshman Lydia McCully and incoming freshman Fabiola Josil as point guard candidates next season.

Good for Bjork--I'd get out of there to if I was in her shoes. This new coach takes a team that was 4th in the Big 10 and turns them into a 9th place wonder.....and deludes the team into thinking that they've improved!
Coach Law is all talk and no walk.
and in my one encounter with her, I found her to be an arrogant individual who does NOT listen to others.
Best of luck to our favorite #20!

I agree, Bob24. I'm a 10th grade baller from Peoria and my coaches say that Law isn't a good coach.
I'm not gonna play for a coach who's mean to her players, so I'll look somewhere else.

Ms. Jackson, all college coaches are very tough on their players. If you want a nicey nice coach, go play at the Y.
