The Champaign Central football team today cracked The Associated Press Top 10 football poll, entering at No. 7 in Class 5A.
The Maroons (2-0) have outscored their opponents 65-16. They visit winless Decatur Eisenhower on Friday.
The last time Central was ranked? Good question. My records only go back to the mid-90s, and I can't find a ranking in that time. If you know the last time Central was ranked, shoot me an e-mail at tbleill@news-gazette.com and I'll research it.
The Big 12 is well-represented. Bloomington, coming off a victory against rival Normal Community, is No. 9 in Class 6A. Unbeaten Danville is No. 7 in 6A.
