JK Rowling is embarking on a brief U.S. book tour in October. Three of the events will be for schoolchildren (selected, of course, by a sorting hat) and the fourth will be for 1,000 fans of all ages to be selected by lottery via Scholastic Books (beginning July 30.) None of the events are being held at Assembly Hall, unfortunately.

The CEO of Amazon.com has broken it gently to shareholders that the company is not going to make a profit on the one million copies of "Deathly Hallows" it has already sold. This is why I could never be a business person; I simply cannot wrap my mind around the concept of selling a million items and not making a profit.
I will also mention, because it would be negligent not to, the future Harry Potter theme park within a theme park at Universal in Orlando. It is due to open in 2009, which will certainly relieve travelers who can't find enough theme park activity in the Orlando area. My first thought was that the idea will be kind of old and moldy by 2009, but then I realized that there are still two more movies to go. My second thought is that if they can capture the rich, magical detail of the books, I'll be first in line. I don't think they can, though.
