My previous blog on cover art may have been off base in light of recent news.

It seems that a character was cut from the upcoming Order of the Phoenix movie and then returned at author J.K. Rowling's suggestion. The director today revealed that the almost-cut character was...Kreacher. The implication is that Kreacher is a necessary part of the plot later on.
I don't recall seeing much of Kreacher in Half-blood Prince, so that leaves Deathly Hallows. And as we have seen, the UK cover of Deathly Hallows shows a house elf holding a weapon (I assume the Sword of Gryffindor) and riding a dragon with Harry. My previous assumption was that the house elf was Dobby.
Could it be Kreacher? I cannot imagine a circumstance, charm, spell or potion that could have resulted in Kreacher becoming an ally of Harry Potter. Perhaps the cover shows Kreacher, holding a weapon, trying to kill Harry Potter before he can carry out his mission.
So it seems that Harry Potter will be killed by Kreacher in book 7, and the house elves will defeat Voldemort and go on to rule the magical world.
