A Disastrous Loss

I've been cruising along with these games, doing a cutesy point-by-point on what need to be done and what happended in the game. Not this time.
The Illini just lost one of the worst games they've played in years.
To lose to a Minnesota team that is not nearly as physically gifted, to a coach that wanted the Illinois job last time it was open, on Homecoming...
To lose by continuing horrible special teams play, stupid penalties and questionable offensive playcalling at times (I hate running to the outside when the ball is inside the one).
To waste some terrific performances by a couple of offensive players like this...
is DISASTROUS.
Coach Zook was correct in the postgame. The team didn't deserve to win, they came out chippy and played with heads bigger than their helmets while Minny came out defiant and with hearts bigger than their chests.
Congrats to the Gophers and to Coach Brewster, they deserve this win and their upcoming bowl appearance.
The Illini need to look in the mirror and ask themselves what THEY deserve this year.
