UI gets "Failure To Appear"

I realize it's early to be blogging about the Josh Brent situation, but for crying out loud, the young man had an OUTSTANDING WARRANT.
Is there no one at the University that vets out student-athletes (or PROSPECTIVE ones) for these things? If the athletic department is supposed to be trusted with our children to steer them down the right path, etc., they help them plan their courses, make sure they follow National Cashcow Association of America (NCAA) rules to the letter, control their lives for one to four-plus years...then they should be making sure that things like OUTSTANDING WARRANTS are taken care of.
At this point I don't even care what the warrant was for - spitting into the wind - who cares. Brent will face whatever the justice system comes up for him. It's the UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS that has totally failed to appear in this case.
You want these kids to play for your sports teams, then you take care of them when THEY need it, not just when YOU need it. Ron Guenther needs to step on someone's neck on this, and there needs to be a full shakedown of the rosters of Illini athletes to make sure this does NOT happen again.

Seriously. We couldnt pay someone 50k a year to watch these kids during the whole year? Call it quality control or whatever. Just dont let this happen again.

They just don't give a crap over there led by Ron Zook and Ron Guenther!!!
You are so right Mr. Loy!!! RG should have player managers in place - A 2 to 1 ratio sounds about right of players to managers.
The managers should go/call all area/state law enforcement offices and check-on every player-every day for any outstanding warrants, follow their assigned players to class, follow them out at night, sit at the end of their beds while they sleep, and make sure they study 40-50 hrs. per week...
In these economic times, I'm sure RG has a couple million or so laying around for the 42 manager salary's...Let's face the fact he and Zook couldn't care less - Use and abuse 'em is their watch words over there. You are soooooo correct Eric, so correct!!!
Afterall, we all know that young men these days can't be trusted to make an adult decision before their 25th birthday and they only live for self gratification----Right???...Right???
