*First of all, congrats to Mark Johnson on a stellar career at Illinois. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and the YMCA orginazation just got a big shot in the arm.

*Illini baseball has been a lot of fun this year so far. WDWS will be carrying all but one game the rest of the way, including the important mid-week games. Illinois dodged a bullet when they were able to overcome a very slow offensive start to top SIU-E on Tuesday night. The Cougars took advantage of their opportunities to get the lead, but Illinois was able to slowly fight back into the game. The Illini need to improve their situational hitting, but their pitching looks pretty good. The three-game conference series format will  work in their favor this season.

*If you haven't been to Eichelberger Field to watch the Illini softball team play, you should get out there this season. They are a scrappy team, and the field itself is a fun place to be.

*Congrats to Penn State for taking a pretty good field and the NIT championship. They should have been in the NCAA.

*Still not feeling up for the football season yet. Someone has to convince me where the Illini will be better this season after their poor performance last season. And the getting-more-ridiculous-by-the-second scheduling is making the outlook worse.

*Congrats to the Illini Hockey Club,  on getting to the national championship game!
