From Wisconsin's sports information department:
MADISON, Wis. – Junior Mariah Dunham has been dismissed from the University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team for repeated violations of team rules, Coach Lisa Stone announced today. The dismissal is effective immediately.
“This was a very tough decision to make but, in the best interests of the program, we felt that it was time for Mariah to leave the team,” said Stone. “We wish her the best in her future endeavors.”
Dunham, a 6-1 forward, was suspended indefinitely by the UW coaching staff prior to the Badgers’ game at Michigan last Sunday for an off-the-court incident.
The Watertown, Wis., native has played in 20 games this season, starting 13. Dunham was the second-leading scorer on the UW team, averaging 9.2 points per game. She also ranked second with 4.6 rebounds per game. Dunham scored in double figures in 11 games, including a
season-high 17 points vs. Michigan on Jan. 11. A two-year letterwinner, Dunham started 14 games as a freshman and seven games as a sophomore. She scored her 600th career point vs. Purdue
on Jan. 29 and also has more than 300 career rebounds.
