A story in today's Houston Chronicle detailed the last-minute decision-making of Kelsey Bone, the Texas prep star who on Wednesday chose South Carolina over Illinois and others for her college basketball home.
The gist of the story: In the team hotel before Wednesday's McDonald's All-America Game, Bone and her mother tried to come to a resolution about where Bone should play. Bone wanted to go to South Carolina. Her mother, Kim Williams, wanted her to go to Texas A&M, the story says. Unable to agree, they set a 3 p.m. deadline. If they couldn't come to a resolution by that time, the pair agreed that Bone would go to Illinois, "her third choice," the story says. About 15 minutes before the deadline, Williams apparently relented, and that's how Bone wound up at South Carolina.
