Illinois women's basketball assistant coach Tamika Louis has been placed on administrative leave and is not expected to return to the program.
A post on the Twitter feed of "wbballhoopscoop" indicated that Louis has been hired as an assistant coach at St. John's, which has one opening on coach Kim Barnes Arico's staff. There has been no official word distributed by Illinois or St. John's to that effect.
Louis was hired by head coach Jolette Law shortly after Law accepted the UI job in 2007. The Flint, Mich., native was a head coach at Mott Community College in Flint from 2002-05 before entering private business, which she left to take the job at Illinois.
Louis' departure would create an awkward situation for the Illini, who open full workouts Oct. 16.

Now Coach Law can hire a young assistant with recruiting ties to chicago.
