Teachers who participate in the NIE program will receive one or more curriculum guides with activities that link the newspapers to various educational goals. Guides are available only with an NIE subscription to The News-Gazette and cannot be purchased separately.

Parade Magazine Classroom

Parade Magazine provides teachers several different resources to assist them with using newspapers in the classroom. When you arrive at the website, look for the "Teacher's Corner". Teachers are able to download activities designed to help use the newspaper in the classroom. The Teacher's Corner also offers information on current events.

Vocabulary.com offers 2500 pages of Interactive word puzzle activities that focus on learning Latin/Greek roots. THERE ARE NO FEES.

Please email jancook@vocabulary.com with email addresses of friends/colleagues so that they can have their own copies. You may also use the Monthly Newsletter button on the home page to sign up. A free site that allows students at elementary, junior high and high school levels, teachers and life-long learners to acquire and retain vocabulary. Each free session has three levels. Each level has 3 puzzles with 12 words each (36 total words in a session) and contains seven (7) additional activities/exercises that help develop vocabulary. It is continuously updated.
