Just Desserts & Jazz set Friday
URBANA – The Urbana Band Boosters will sponsor a fundraising evening, Just Desserts and Jazz, starting at 7 p.m. Friday at Urbana High School.
The Urbana Middle School Jazz Band and Urbana High School Jazz Bands I & II will perform. Individual servings of homemade desserts and beverages will be sold by the Band Boosters. This is the second year for the joint year-end jazz concert and dessert fundraiser.
The high school jazz bands are finishing a busy season of concerts that included performances at Grace United Methodist Church, a Lions Club-sponsored afternoon jazz concert and featured performances at the Urbana District Band Festival. And in March, the Urbana High School Jazz Band I received a No. 1 rating at the Illinois High School Association Organizational Band Contest.
The Urbana High School Jazz Bands I and II are directed by Mark Day. The Urbana Middle School Jazz Band is directed by Erin Lodes.
