Irish musicians will perform in Urbana
URBANA – Irish musicians Paddy Keenan and Patsy O'Brien will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Heartland Gallery, 112 W. Main St., U.
In the 1970s Keenan was a founding member of the legendary The Bothy Band; his virtuosity on the Uilleann bagpipes made him its driving force. Since the band's breakup, Keenan has pursued a solo career, playing festivals and concerts worldwide. He has composed and arranged music for several film projects, most recently a documentary in Mali.
O'Brien has a penchant for seamless genre-hopping as well as showing off his critically acclaimed songwriting skills. His most obvious influences are blues, traditional Irish music, jazz and country.
Tickets to the concert are $20 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and students. Reservations are encouraged because seating is limited.
For reservations or more information, contact pipers.hut@gmail.com or 390-3291. Tickets may be purchased online.
The concert is part of the Piper's Hut Concert Series curated by Dean Karres.
