Changes in Catlin wastewater pipe OK'd
CATLIN – Village officials voted Tuesday to have some changes made to a 20-foot-long vertical pipe at the wastewater plant.
Currently, the 6-inch-wide pipe runs along a concrete wall, then turns at a right angle and tapers to 4 inches in diameter to connect with a wastewater pump that has a 4-inch port.
Catlin Village Board member Barry Voorhees said the wastewater pump is being replaced with a different pump, and changes to the pipe need to be made.
To begin with, the pipe needs to be connected to the wall with brackets. Next, the new pump sits higher than the older pump, so the length of the pipe needs to be shortened. Finally, the new pump has a 6-inch-wide port, so the point where the pipe connects to the pump must also be 6 inches in diameter.
The board voted to hire Frank J. Strahl & Sons, Inc. of Danville to make those changes by Dec. 1 at a cost of $1,440.
In other business, the board voted to have Chambliss Tree Service of Catlin remove a large, lightning-damaged sycamore tree near 712 Webster St. that is in a village right of way at a cost of $1,680.
