County residents get peek into police work
CHAMPAIGN – The Champaign County Citizen Police Academy will begin its 22nd session Feb. 21. The program, hosted by the University of Illinois Police Training Institute, 1004 S. Fourth St., C, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays for 10 weeks.
Topics include crime prevention, community-based policing, drugs, gangs, school safety, drunken-driving enforcement, citizen/police contacts, use of force by police, firearms safety and crime-scene investigation.
