Support – not investigation – should be the first step for parents

For a frightened parent, concerned that his or her child has been sexually abused, the first impulse is likely to begin asking questions, trying to figure out what may have happened.

Resist that urge, child abuse experts say. Be supportive of your child. Believe what he or she tells you.
