Four from area injured in crash; other driver charged with DUI
CHAMPAIGN – Two University of Illinois employees and their two children were victims of what police say was a drunk-driving accident late Saturday in Will County.
Irene Cooke, 46, the director of the university's division of research safety; her husband, Paul Cooke, 51, a veterinary biosciences professor; and their two children were injured while driving on U.S. 45 when their Honda Odyssey was struck by a Ford pickup truck driven by Craig Smart, 20, of Monee, according to state police.
