Bement principal, noncertified workers to get raises
BEMENT – Bement High School Principal Doug Kepley and the district's noncertified employees have received a 3.92 percent raise. Kepley's salary will be $81,084. Board member Laura Gillespie voted against the increase at a recent meeting, calling the decision fiscally irresponsible for a district of Bement's size.
Also, the board unanimously ratified a collective bargaining agreement with the Bement Education Association. The agreement is for two years and increases the base salary from $26,000 to $26,450 in 2008-09, and from $26,450 to $27,000 the following year. The agreement also extends a 6 percent retirement bonus for three to four years with a 3.92 percent pay increase in the first year and a 3.57 percent increase the next year.
