State's revenue picture remains gloomy
SPRINGFIELD – The state received a huge influx of federal money last month, but it didn't change the bottom line: Total revenue into state government is still running far behind last year's totals.
Federal funds into Springfield were up $1.1 billion in May – 222 percent more than in May 2008. About $832 million of the new revenue was directly related to the federal economic stimulus package, according to the state Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability.
