Savoy surprised at Champaign's turnaround on deal
SAVOY – Champaign aldermen surprised Savoy officials Tuesday when they voted 5-3 against an intergovernmental agreement with the village of Savoy and the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District for the engineering of a sewer at Church Street and Interstate 57.
According to village Manager Richard Helton, the agreement – which he said has been in the works since last October – was recommended by Champaign's staff and mayor and was expected to pass.
