Ruling rejects law on judicial retirements
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Supreme Court has thrown out a law setting a mandatory retirement age for state judges, a move that affects one prominent East Central Illinois jurist.
Piatt County Judge John Shonkwiler, 76, said Thursday that he hadn't read the opinion yet and hadn't made up his mind about what his future holds.
