Recruiting young kids should be off-limits

I wanted to follow up Bill Baker's July 27 letter about recruiting junior high kids for college basketball teams like the University of Illinois.

I agree totally that it is ludicrous to start recruiting kids at that age. It is happening all across the nation. I read that Kentucky and the University of Southern California have offered scholarships to an eighth-grader. How insane is that?
