Driver who ran over cat just kept going

I was behind the woman in the blue station wagon when she ran over a cat on Duncan Road Tuesday evening. When she didn't stop, I got her to pull over.

While her children and dog looked on, I told her how I felt about what she had done by not stopping to check the cat. I then went back to where the cat had crawled under some bushes. While a neighborhood resident tried unsuccessfully to contact animal control, I comforted the cat as best as I could. As I was trying to read the tag on its collar, the cat died. The neighborhood resident of the house was able call the owners and tell them what had happened. I wonder what the driver's children thought of her actions.
