We need honesty in health care debate

Monday November 2, 2009

The time is long overdue for an honest debate on health care policy rather than the lies so popular on inaccurate radio and television programs.

Deceit, whether from the right or left, must be faced and discussed openly for honest debate. Obamacare does not exist. President Obama made his opinions on health care known to Congress, and he asked for a bill to reform the health care system.

A public option will ruin the insurance industry? Untrue.

Anyone who is satisfied with their health care can keep it. The public option is for those who are unhappy with the status quo. It will affect the profit margin the noncompetitive insurance industry enjoys by lowering rates for all involved.

The largest and most satisfactory health care systems are the veterans and Medicare programs. They serve consumers for less cost than insurance. Individual costs will drop, and service will rise. This is a bad thing?

The deceit of those with a hidden agenda are tainting the debate with lies. The truth is lost in rhetoric. Where is the honesty in this debate?
