War on terror really is a war on liberty

Rick Zabel (July 21 letter) faults Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama for wanting to end "the war." He claims to be confused about which war Obama means. I don't speak for the Obama campaign, but I think it's safe to say the reference is to the war in Iraq. The war that is intensely unpopular.

We are not at war with Pakistan or Iran. The war on terror is a misnomer. It's been a war on liberty and a political tool where fear has been manipulated to win votes.
